Robert C. Keefer received his Ph.D. from Nebraska Medical School. He researched the causes of alcoholic liver disease, then conducted cancer research and published papers at Ohio State University Cancer Center before discovering a real passion for commercializing new life-changing diagnostics, therapeutics, and medical devices.

For over 30 years, he worked with international pharmaceutical and clinical diagnostics companies before joining a consulting firm that helps German and other European healthcare companies develop new businesses in the US. One of his clients manufactured an audiometric device for audiologists, which led him to start up and operate a small audiology and hearing aid clinic in his community. There, he learned so much about hearing healthcare that he was led to over ten years of research, writing, and publishing this book.
